First Responder Counseling
Specialized therapy for those who run to help others
— from a therapist who has been there.
Ashland City, TN and telehealth throughout Tennessee.
What Can I Gain and What Can I Expect?
You’ve seen things most people can’t imagine. You’ve held it together on scene, in the station, in the ER — and then gone home and tried to turn it all off. But some things don’t just turn off.
If you’re struggling with PTSD, hypervigilance, sleep problems, anger, relationship strain, or the slow accumulation of a career spent absorbing everyone else’s worst moments — you are not broken. You’re a person carrying something real and heavy. And you deserve support from someone who actually understands the culture.
A Therapist Who Understands the Culture
Rebecca Horn, MA, LPC-MHSP, is a former first responder, a first responder’s spouse, and a first responder’s parent. She has also worked in hospital and crisis settings. She knows the world you operate in — the dark humor, the hierarchy, the stigma around asking for help, the shift schedules, the physical toll, the calls that stay with you longer than they should.
You won’t have to explain yourself here. You won’t be judged for how you cope. And you won’t be asked to ‘just talk about your feelings with someone who has never worn the gear.
