EMDR Therapy

Evidence-based trauma therapy that goes beyond talking

— in person in Ashland City, TN or via telehealth throughout Tennessee.

How EMDR Can Help:

What Is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the most thoroughly researched therapies available for trauma, PTSD, OCD, and anxiety. If you’ve tried talk therapy and felt like you were going in circles — EMDR works differently. It helps your brain finish processing experiences that got stuck, so they no longer hijack your nervous system in the present.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — typically guided eye movements or tapping — while you briefly and safely focus on a difficult memory or feeling. This process allows your brain to reprocess the experience naturally. Unlike traditional therapy, you don’t have to describe every detail of what happened. Most clients notice meaningful shifts within a handful of sessions.

Who Benefits from EMDR?

  • First responders, military, and veterans with PTSD or operational stress injuries

  • Medical workers and other helpers with cumulative or vicarious trauma

  • Anyone who has experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or a critical incident

  • People with OCD, phobias, panic, or anxiety that hasn’t fully responded to other treatment

  • Grief, complicated loss, and major life transitions

  • Performance anxiety and confidence issues

EMDR Intensives — Deeper Healing, Faster

Standard therapy works week by week. EMDR Intensives condense that work into extended sessions — typically three hours at a time — allowing for deeper processing and faster results. This format is especially effective for first responders, shift workers, and others with demanding or unpredictable schedules who need flexibility, or who want to make significant progress in a shorter window of time.

Online EMDR Throughout Tennessee

EMDR can be done effectively via telehealth when your internet connection is strong enough. This makes it accessible to clients anywhere in Tennessee — from Memphis to Knoxville, from Johnson City to right where you are. All you need is a private space and a reliable connection.

In-Person EMDR in Ashland City, TN

Our in-person EMDR sessions are held in a quiet cottage on a working family farm in Ashland City, Tennessee. The setting itself — peaceful, private, and connected to nature — supports the nervous system regulation that makes deep processing possible. Some clients tell us it’s the first place they’ve felt safe enough to actually do the work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many EMDR sessions will I need?

A: It varies. Some clients experience significant relief in 6–8 sessions. Those with complex or long-standing trauma often benefit from more extended work. We assess this together during your intake.

Q: Is EMDR covered by insurance?

A: Standard EMDR sessions are billed as therapy sessions and are covered by the insurance plans we accept, including Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Tricare Select, and Optum. Extended EMDR Intensives are not typically covered and are offered at a flat session rate.

Q: Do I have to talk about everything that happened?

A: No. EMDR does not require you to give a detailed verbal account of your trauma. You hold the memory internally while we work — you control what you share and at what pace.
